Loose leaf tea is really the only way to get the most out of tea. Using the loose leaves ensures we honour the work of the tea farmer and reconnect teas to their ancient ceremonial roots. Most teabags contain plastic that is not only harmful to your health and our planet but also impact the flavour of the tea. There are some modern teabags made with bioplastic but, to degrade properly, these require the high temperatures only available at industrial waste disposal units.

We source all out teas directly from the farmer rather than working with mass wholesalers and other middlemen. We do this to celebrate the farmer and traditional tea culture, and so that we gain access to high-quality, unique teas that are difficult to find at your local supermarket.

We process our orders from out storage centre within 2-3 days. After this point, delivery times vary depending on the region and the type of postage. Reach out to hello@slowsteep.com if you are waiting for your order and concerned about when it will arrive.

The pouches that you receive your tea in are recyclable. We have opted for these bags because their inner casing is food-safe and they ensure the flavours of our beloved teas last as long as possible. If, however, you have any recommendations for more eco-friendly packaging that also provide high food-safety standards and preseve the flavours of the tea, please reach out to us at hello@slowsteep.com.

We like to be transparent about our sourcing, so we added the coordinates of where our tea is grown and produced to every pouch. So there you have it, mystery solved!
